Books In Review: “How to be your Dog’s Best Friend”

I recently finished The Monks of New Skete’s Novel “How to be your Dog’s Best Friend”. Sequel to their book “The Art of Raising A Puppy”. I found it greatly intriguing, the book is not only a training manual for obedience, and solving common problems, It is a sneak peak into the lives of both the monks, their German Shepherds, and how they relate to each other. Making it an interesting read, as well as educational. I think the thing I hate most when reading a book on canines is being lulled to sleep on the history and theory of training and losing interest in the book all together. This book wonderfully mixes both lessons on training and many humorous stories about the dogs and people that have found their way to New Skete for help. It was a Spectacular read, that kept my interest through its entirety. I was surprised to learn many new techniques for not only my Dobermans, but also my little Chihuahua, Finn. I would highly recommend it especially to those considering bringing home a new dog or puppy.

How does this compare with the Cesar Millan book?
I don’t have a new dog/pup… mine is a 5 year old rescue and I’ve had him for over a year but he has issues. Do the Monkss say anything about aggression and biting?
